Audiology.
Our school audiologist visits the school each week and additionally works for our local NHS children’s audiology service. Our audiologist is a member of the British Society of Audiology and holds professional registration with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC).
Audiology support exists on-site to support learners to achieve optimal benefit from their chosen amplification. Our audiologist is available to perform routine hearing aid and cochlear implant maintenance and checks, as well troubleshooting and repairs on site. We are able take new ear mould impressions at school if needed, which are ordered as a priority through our local ear mould laboratory.
We can liaise closely with learners’ local NHS hearing aid or cochlear implant services to arrange replacement devices or local follow-ups where needed. Hearing assessment can take place on-site and we assess speech discrimination using a specialist approach. Any concerns as a result of any routine checks or assessments will be fully discussed with parents/carers.
