Hamilton Lodge School

Communication, Care, Curriculum

Welcome to Hamilton Lodge School and College

Situated in the heart of Brighton, our school has educated and cared for Deaf children for over 75 years. Hamilton Lodge is a special residential through school for learners from 5 to 19 years of age with significant expertise in meeting an identified primary need of Deafness (Mild, Moderate, Severe or Profound).

We work to ensure all our learners:

  • develop a full language to support memory & learning
  • achieve their academic and vocational potential
  • be safe and confident in the modern world
  • have happy memories of their childhood and make lasting friendships
  • be healthy and resilient both physically and emotionally

The school values developed by our learners permeate everything we do.

Lorraine Slee: Interim Principal.

It is with great sadness that the Trustees have announced that Hamilton Lodge School and College will be going through a consultation on the future of HLSC after 80 years of providing education to Deaf students. This is due to the decline in pupil numbers over time. The consultation will consider how staff expertise can be maintained in providing services and how redundancies can be avoided or mitigated. The Trust aims to continue with its primary aim of supporting future generations of Deaf children.

During the consultation (until December 2024) on our future, we would like to hear from stakeholders and interested parties with ideas to continue providing and diversifying services on stakeholders.feedback@hamiltonlsc.co.uk
